• Commercial Quality (CS) - product has some formability and can be bent readily.  The product is relatively soft, low hardness and strength, but is not sold to mechanical properties.

  • High Strength Alloy (HSLA) - is a type of alloy steel that provides better mechanical properties or greater resistance to corrosion than carbon steel. HSLA steels vary from other steels in that they aren't made to meet a specific chemical composition, but rather to specific mechanical properties. They have carbon content between 0.05–0.25% to retain formability and weldability.

  • Drawing Quality (DS) - Drawing is a forming process in which the metal is stretched over a form. In deep drawing, the depth of the part being made is more than half its diameter. Deep drawing is generally done in multiple steps called draw reductions.

  • A36 - ASTM A36 steel - steel is the most commonly available of the hot-rolled steels. It is generally available in round rod, square bar, rectangle bar, as well as steel shapes such as I-Beams, H-beams, angles, and channels. The hot roll process means that the surface on this steel will be somewhat rough.
